Software Architecture with C# 10 and .NET 6 – Third Edition: Develop software solutions using microservices, DevOps, EF Core, and design patterns for Azure
, Third Edition
Gain comprehensive software architecture knowledge and the skillset to create fully modular apps
Solve scalability problems in web apps using enterprise architecture patterns
Master new developments in front-end architecture and the application of AI for software architects
Description
Software architecture is the practice of implementing structures and systems that streamline the software development process and improve the quality of an app. This fully revised and expanded third edition, featuring the latest features of .NET 6 and C# 10, enables you to acquire the key skills, knowledge, and best practices required to become an effective software architect.
Software Architecture with C# 10 and .NET 6, Third Edition features new chapters that describe the importance of the software architect, microservices with ASP.NET Core, and analyzing the architectural aspects of the front-end in the applications, including the new approach of .NET MAUI. It also includes a new chapter focused on providing a short introduction to artificial intelligence and machine learning using ML.NET, and updated chapters on Azure Kubernetes Service, EF Core, and Blazor.
You will begin by understanding how to transform user requirements into architectural needs and exploring the differences between functional and non-functional requirements. Next, you will explore how to choose a cloud solution for your infrastructure, taking into account the factors that will help you manage a cloud-based app successfully. Finally, you will analyze and implement software design patterns that will allow you to solve common development problems.
By the end of this book, you will be able to build and deliver highly scalable enterprise-ready apps that meet your business requirements.
Who is this book for?
This book is for engineers and senior software developers aspiring to become architects or looking to build enterprise applications with the .NET Stack. Basic familiarity with C# and .NET is required to get the most out of this book.
What you will learn
Use proven techniques to overcome real-world architectural challenges
Apply architectural approaches such as layered architecture
Leverage tools such as containers to manage microservices effectively
Get up to speed with Azure features for delivering global solutions
Program and maintain Azure Functions using C# 10
Understand when it is best to use test-driven development (TDD)
Implement microservices with ASP.NET Core in modern architectures
Enrich your application with Artificial Intelligence
Get the best of DevOps principles to enable CI/CD environments
First thing first! This book is not for beginners, this is an intermediate level book. It’s for someone who has been coding with C#/.net for a while and wants to up their game! The first part of the book goes over in clear terms the basics and methodology of a software architect. As you advance along you get more and more detailed and technical. Which for this type of book is really good.I would recommend this book to any of my coworkers if they needed assistance. It makes a good reference as well!

This is a big book, but looking at the table of contents, you'd have to wonder how the author squeezes so much into even this big a book. And the answer is that he provides a top level understanding of the issues but does not dive deep into each.So much depends on what you are looking for. If you are, for example, looking for a book that will teach you C# 10, or Entity Framework or etc. then this is not the book for you; you need a dedicated text.On the other hand, if you are looking to understand what all the parts of .NET are, and how they interact and work together, and how you can build solid professional programs with them, then this book is perfect. Further, no matter how much you already know, I'd wager you'll learn some new things here.I have spent some time with this book, and will spend more. There are nooks and crannies of .NET that I'm interested in learning about... and keeping up with everything can be a full time job without books like this. Please note that I received a review copy.

This is a great resource I found in recent years on ".NET". This book falls into wide-raging books, which cover the overall context of .NET. It started with Software Architecture and touch almost every single bit, of project management, Azure DevOps, Microservices, Kubernetes, Entity Framework, Design pattern, best practices, Blazer WebAssembly, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning.I personally like such books which showcase the full power of technology and display everything to reader. As there is always scope for improvement so I can say it's better if Chapter 19 onwards can have room before AI/ML chapter. But that's not an issue for experienced professionals.Every single chapter is full of information and knowledge so don't skip anything if you're looking to explore the full potential of .NET to develop enterprise applications.
Gabriel Baptista is a software architect who leads technical teams for Microsoft products across numerous projects for retail and industry. He is an Azure Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solutions specialist, a computing professor, a co-founder of a start-up for developing mobile applications, and also a speaker on the Channel 9 community.
Francesco Abbruzzese dedicates his life to his two great passions: software and powerlifting. He is the author of the MVC Controls Toolkit and the Blazor Controls Toolkit libraries. He has contributed to the diffusion and evangelization of the Microsoft web stack since the first version of ASP.NET. His company, Mvcct Team, offers web applications, tools, and services for web technologies. He has moved from AI systems, where he implemented one of the first decision support systems for financial institutions, to top-10 video game titles such as Puma Street Soccer.

Where can I send feedback about an Early Access title?
If you have any feedback about the product you're reading, or Early Access in general, then please fill out a contact form here and we'll make sure the feedback gets to the right team.
Can I download the code files for Early Access titles?
We try to ensure that all books in Early Access have code available to use, download, and fork on GitHub. This helps us be more agile in the development of the book, and helps keep the often changing code base of new versions and new technologies as up to date as possible. Unfortunately, however, there will be rare cases when it is not possible for us to have downloadable code samples available until publication.
When we publish the book, the code files will also be available to download from the Packt website.
How accurate is the publication date?
The publication date is as accurate as we can be at any point in the project. Unfortunately, delays can happen. Often those delays are out of our control, such as changes to the technology code base or delays in the tech release. We do our best to give you an accurate estimate of the publication date at any given time, and as more chapters are delivered, the more accurate the delivery date will become.
How will I know when new chapters are ready?
We'll let you know every time there has been an update to a course that you've bought in Early Access. You'll get an email to let you know there has been a new chapter, or a change to a previous chapter. The new chapters are automatically added to your account, so you can also check back there any time you're ready and download or read them online.
I am a Packt subscriber, do I get Early Access?
Yes, all Early Access content is fully available through your subscription. You will need to have a paid for or active trial subscription in order to access all titles.
How is Early Access delivered?
Early Access is currently only available as a PDF or through our online reader. As we make changes or add new chapters, the files in your Packt account will be updated so you can download them again or view them online immediately.
How do I buy Early Access content?
Early Access is a way of us getting our content to you quicker, but the method of buying the Early Access course is still the same. Just find the course you want to buy, go through the check-out steps, and you’ll get a confirmation email from us with information and a link to the relevant Early Access courses.
What is Early Access?
Keeping up to date with the latest technology is difficult; new versions, new frameworks, new techniques. This feature gives you a head-start to our content, as it's being created. With Early Access you'll receive each chapter as it's written, and get regular updates throughout the product's development, as well as the final course as soon as it's ready. We created Early Access as a means of giving you the information you need, as soon as it's available. As we go through the process of developing a course, 99% of it can be ready but we can't publish until that last 1% falls in to place. Early Access helps to unlock the potential of our content early, to help you start your learning when you need it most. You not only get access to every chapter as it's delivered, edited, and updated, but you'll also get the finalized, DRM-free product to download in any format you want when it's published. As a member of Packt, you'll also be eligible for our exclusive offers, including a free course every day, and discounts on new and popular titles.
