Summary
In this chapter, we learned the handling of large objects in Oracle. We started with the need for a stable philosophy for large objects and understanding on the LOB data types in Oracle. We learned managing and working with internal and external LOBs with the help of illustrations and demonstrations. We wiped-up the chapter with a brief demonstration on working with temporary LOBs.
In the next chapter, we will see an enhanced version of LOB, SecureFiles, which has been released in Oracle 11g. We will see the archiving of an earlier LOB under BasicFiles and evolution of SecureFiles as a more promising framework to store large objects in the database.
