Chapter 9. Controlling the Page Navigation

Most web applications display some form of visual navigations and provide navigation models to help users move around the pages. In this chapter you will learn about similar offerings from the ADF Controller layer to navigate back and forth between views in a Fusion web application. In addition to providing navigation models for the web pages, the ADF Controller is also responsible for transaction management, authorization, and managed bean lifecycle management. We will be discussing basic navigation models provided by the ADF Controller layer in this chapter. More advanced concepts will be covered in the next chapter. We will discuss the following topics in this chapter:

  • The navigation model in the JSF framework

  • The navigation model in ADF

  • The ingredients of an ADF task flow

  • Building an unbounded task flow
