Map functions


We've used a few methods of the Map class already, such as addLayers and zoomToMaxExtent. In fact, we've used the more common methods at least a couple of times throughout the previous chapters. We haven't covered them in good detail yet, and there are a few functions we haven't encountered but are still quite handy, especially when developing maps with any sort of custom functionality.

This section is divided into groups of related functionality. Each group will have its own header and then lists functions alphabetically, so you can quickly find the function you're looking for.

Control related

  • addControl( control ): Parameters—control {OpenLayers.Control}. This function takes in a single control object and adds it to the map.

  • addControls( controls ): Parameters—controls {Array {OpenLayers.Control}}. This function takes in an array of control objects and adds them to the map.

  • getControl( match ): Parameters—match {String}. Accepts one argument, the ID of a control. It will return...
