Creating a baseline to monitor for unapproved hardware and virtual systems

Configuration Manager can monitor for unapproved systems that have been deployed to a corporate network. It does this by running periodic discoveries from one or more of the available discovery methods. These methods are listed in the following table:

Discovery method	Description
Active Directory Forest Discovery	Allows Configuration Manager to discover Active Directory sites and subnets.
Active Directory Group Discovery	Allows Configuration Manager to discover the group membership of Active Directory users and computers.
Active Directory System Discovery	Allows Configuration Manager to discover computers in Active Directory Domain Services.
Active Directory User Discovery	Allows Configuration Manager to discover user accounts in Active Directory Domain Services.
