Business rules can perform a limited set of actions. They are as follows:
- Set the visibility of the field.
- Set a field to be business required.
- Set a field to be read-only.
- Set the value of a field.
- Set the default value of a field.
- Show an error message.
- Prompt the user with a recommendation.
The following screenshot shows these actions in the right-hand pane of the business rules designer:

Each tile represents an action that you can use. You drag an action tile onto the canvas to add the action to the rule.
Actions can only be performed on fields. You cannot use actions with any other form component, such as sections or tabs.
To use business rules effectively, you need to know what each of these actions is capable of.
