Creating and combining different NPR effects

Lumion has some splendid artistic effects that can be used to produce some technical illustration, architectural visualizations, or conceptual designs. We can use each effect individually and the outcome is still professional and with high quality. However, as we mentioned in the beginning of this chapter, making art is a creative, intelligent, and thoughtful process. Let's see the two ways in which we can use all or some of these effects to take our visualizations to the next level.

Getting ready

To use this recipe, you will need to know how to work with Gimp or Photoshop.

How to do it…

Let's define the effects you need, as shown in the following steps:

  1. Apply the Manga effect and export two images: one with full color and another with just the outlines. You can name them M_line and M_color.
  2. Next, apply the Cartoon effect and save an image with just the outlines as C_line.
  3. Open these three images in a software that can work with layers...
