Rendering L-systems
This recipe will show us how to play with the L-system extension to render some very interesting patterns. This extension uses the Lindenmayer formulas, but no previous knowledge of L-systems is required to successfully follow this recipe. We will continue our venture in the fascinating world of spirographic shapes by using this extension to produce a similar drawing.
The L-system grammar was invented by Hungarian biologist, Aristid Lindenmayer to describe the growth of plants, so our second example will show how to create a bush-like object. Finally, in our third example we will generate a complex geometrical pattern resembling a labyrinth. Isn't it amazing how these three different objects are related by the same mathematical formulas?
How to do it...
Carry out the following steps to build L-system objects:
1. Open the L-system dialog by going to Extensions | Render | L-system....
2. Open the Help tab in the L-system dialog and read the explanation.
3. Go back to the Axiom...
