Chapter 5: Managing VMware vSAN
Chapter 4, VxRail Management Overview, described the VxRail Manager plugin's functions and how to deliver a central management dashboard for hardware and software monitoring in a VxRail cluster, such as what components can be monitored at the cluster level and host level. We learned how to define VxRail roles and permissions for managing a VxRail cluster and gained an understanding of the architecture of VxRail role-based access control.
In this chapter, we'll describe an overview of VMware vSAN configuration and operations in a VxRail cluster. This includes different vSAN services, management of vSAN storage policies, monitoring vSAN objects in a VxRail cluster, and vSAN availability. We will also list some of the best practices for vSAN configuration in a VxRail cluster. After this chapter, you'll understand the day-to-day operations of VMs in a VxRail cluster.
