Auxiliary track design workflows
With our ALG – Railroad – Main alignment created and passing through our existing rail yard, we’ll want to add at least one additional rail line to allow for trains to load/unload materials and pass other trains as needed. This concept is known as an auxiliary track.
Developing an auxiliary track consists of several different components and steps, as outlined through the following:
- Create an offset alignment that will be dynamically linked to our ALG – Railroad – Main alignment.
- Identify two locations where we’ll branch off our ALG – Railroad – Main alignment to meet our newly generated offset alignment. This is known as a crossover alignment.
- Create a new assembly that contains the RailDoubleTrackCANT_w_ExtraLayers subassembly.
Update our COR – Railroad – Main to incorporate the new assembly throughout the auxiliary track.
