Using bonus commands

In this section, we will learn how to use some additional layer commands that might not be easily discovered, such as +LAYER, SETBYLAYER and LAYEREVAL. These bonus commands can be useful for managing your layers.

+LAYER

If you use Layer Filters you will want to know about this little “undocumented” command. Use this command to easily switch layer filters from the Command Line, tool palette, menu, macro, and so on. The +LAYER command allows you to switch to any one of the following layer filter types:

  • All Layers
  • Properties Filter
  • Group Filter
  • Unreconciled Layers
  • Viewport Overrides

Let’s look at how you can use the +LAYER command to more easily utilize Layer Filters:

  1. Open the 9-3_Bonus Layer Commands.dwg file.
  2. Using the In-Canvas View Controls, restore the Custom Model Views | 1-+Layer named view.
  3. Using the Command Line, key in +LAYER and review the Layer Filters available in this file.
