Configuring the Hyper-V extensible virtual network switch
So far in this chapter, we have covered the technical overview of the Hyper-V virtual switch, and the improvements introduced in Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V, so that the required platform is ready to take this journey to the next level. This section has been divided into two subparts. In the first part we will cover the host section, and in the second part we will see the available VM-related networking settings.
In this section of configuring and managing Hyper-V networking, we will discuss the steps for setting up the Hyper-V virtual switch, where we will discuss the different types of Hyper-V virtual switches and their different types of working domains and deployment scenarios. Hyper-V Windows Server 2012 introduced tons of new features, and in this section, we will cover the set of advanced virtual machine features available for both synthetic and legacy network adapters of a virtual machine.
