Introduction

Orchestrator is a visual programming tool; in this chapter, we will focus on the visual programming of Orchestrator. In addition to this, you will also find some introductions for JavaScript.

How this chapter works

If you are new to Orchestrator, or even programming, then just follow the recipes one after the other, as they are built one after the other, otherwise just pick and choose as you like.

In most recipes, we will use an example in order to explain the functions, aims, and gains of the recipe. The recipes in this chapter don't require vCenter or anything else, so if you want, you can just use the base Orchestrator appliance and start working from there. In addition to the visual programming, we will introduce the JavaScript equivalents in each recipe, if there are any, to make this chapter more interesting to advanced readers. If you are new to Orchestrator or JavaScript, you can simply ignore them for the time being and return to them later.
