Creating a roof and front overhang

In this recipe, we will be constructing a front porch and overhang, as well as the roof for our house using wedge parts. We will detail the roof by adding a top part that overhangs the walls, fascia, and ridge cap.

How to do it…

To begin, we will find the center point of the house, and then use wedge parts to create a roof and desired pitch. We will then create a front porch with an overhanging roof over the top of the front entrance of the house with pillars that hold the overhang up. Next, we will detail the roof by attaching a flat part overhanging the walls and attaching a facia to it. We will finish the roof by applying a roof cap along the roof’s peak and then building two roof vents. To begin, follow these steps:

  1. Place a brightly colored part along the top center of your house’s walls to create a visible line indicating the center of the house. I like to use bright red or green so that the line is clearly...
