Engagement – Stakeholder mapping and speaking with people
Speaking with people is the most important part of a wearable interactive project. Looking at the human experience through listening and understanding someone’s personal experiences is what provides the stories that will bring your wearables to life.
“When stakeholders and their interests shape and contribute to the design process, the quality of the design increases” (Fletcher, 2013).
Part of this process involves the following:
- Gaining an understanding of local context. Give attention to your geographic context and the specific technological, cultural, and economical needs and habits.
- Talk with local experts to enhance your knowledge.
- Delve into the problem through the eyes of the people it affects.
- Looking at the problem you are trying to solve, what impact could solving the issue or reducing some of the pain points have?
