AVD as a disaster recovery solution
In Chapter 3, Modern Security Risks, we learned that virtual desktops can help organizations recover from a cyber-attack. A common target for a cyber-attack is the workstations of a company because it means that the end-users can’t work anymore, and this has a big impact. Since companies want their employees to be productive again as soon as possible, they can consider AVD as a disaster recovery solution. Let’s have a look at why AVD is a perfect solution for disaster recovery:
- Scalability: Depending on the size of the company, a lot of workstations can be impacted by a cyber-attack. AVD has the benefit that the IT admin can deploy a lot of session hosts at once and in multiple regions.
- Location: It may be that some end-users are impacted, but not physically at the office. Using AVD, the IT admin can make sure that the end-user has a workstation in the region where they are located. The user can then connect to an AVD session...
