Chapter 6. Linux Games

So far, we have gone over emulation and ported games. What we haven't talked about yet, is games that were made with Linux in mind. These are games that were designed for, and native to, the Linux operating system. Usually free and open source, they are games that have communities built around them, and welcome others to submit code back into the game.

This chapter will focus on a few of those free open source games available in the Raspbian repository.

In this chapter, you will learn:

  • How to install, run, and setup a network server for FreeCiv
  • How to install and play SuperTux, a Super Mario Bros. clone
  • How to install and play Njam, a Pac-Man clone
  • How to install and play Galaga: Hyperspace, a Galaga/Galaxian clone
