Installing the Android SDK
Before we can create Android apps, you need to do some preparations. We'll start by installing the Android SDK on our machine, and tell Processing where to find it. This is the most important step. If we don't do this, we won't be able to use the new Android mode.
How to do it...
The first thing you need to do is point your browser at http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html, and download the Android Software Development Kit (SDK) for your platform. When the SDK has finished downloading, you need to unzip it, and place it on your hard drive. I've placed it in the Documents
folder in my home directory.
Go to the tools
directory in the android-sdk
folder, and double-click the android
file. This is a Unix executable file. A terminal window will open, and the Android SDK manager will launch. Check the Android SDK Platform-tools and Android 2.3.3 (API 10) checkboxes and click the Install 22 packages... button, as shown in the following screenshot. Depending on your...
