Typical Linux use cases in IT infrastructure

As mentioned in the previous section, A brief history of Linux, the customer base for the Linux operating system is very large for on-premises environments as well as the cloud. In this section, we will talk about some use cases of Linux in IT infrastructure. Some things have been relevant since the beginning of Linux adoption (files, the web, databases, and so on), while others have been adopted recently with the introduction of new technologies (containerization and container orchestration, for example).
