At the beginning of this book, we mentioned Microsoft's confusing product names, and AppFabric products are perhaps one of the most confusing. Azure AppFabric is one of two distinct Microsoft products that have the name AppFabric. The Azure AppFabric and the Windows Server AppFabric are not related to one another, and only the Azure AppFabric is part of the Azure platform.
