In this chapter, we looked at the myriad ways your domain can be impacted by external actors. We looked at policies enacted via ICANN, which much be enforced via your domain registrar, and we made a distinction between which of these can be safely ignored and which ones cannot.
From there, we took a look at various scams and fly-by-night outfits that inundate domain registrants with communications made to appear as if they have some official capacity. We briefly touched on common sales ploys that also attempt to look official but are not, and common scams that are often plied against unsuspecting registrants.
We mention all of these here because they can all lead to outages, which lead to downtime.
