Why analyzing BIM data is important
As AEC industry professionals, we already know the definition of Building Information Modeling (BIM). Although not everybody agrees on the same "shade" of definition, we can say that BIM is a process to manage building data. Everybody agrees on that. But, what about the data-driven business model? How can BIM fit into this new type of business? We already know that, worldwide, companies and organizations are implementing a data-driven business model. And the reasons behind that are related, of course, to profits and cost reductions. Yes, it has been proven by various research institutes, such as BARC and McKinsey Global, that businesses that gather and analyze data increased their earnings by 8% and reduced costs by 10%. And those are facts based on numbers, not opinions.
