Chapter 4. Expanding the Beat: Digging Deeper into the Art of Beatmaking
We've explored some basic beats from some very well-established styles in the previous chapters. Now it's time to start branching out a bit. It's good to know our roots and be able to create beats, which are the foundation of the most popular dance styles, and now we need to establish our identity.
In order to expand our beat, we are going to dig a little deeper into our Beat+Bassline Editor and get a nice stable of beats together, which will work well for our arrangement.
In this chapter, we will:
- Explore pattern length and arrangement
- Create a series of beats that will work well in an arrangement
- Explore the Kicker, AudiofileProcessor, and TripleOscillator Synth tools
- Explore basic effects usage
- Learn how to automate the Beat+Bassline Editor pattern we created within the previous chapter
