Time for action—exploring Freeverb

Reverb is nothing more than a fancy delay, but it's important for us to understand and hear the properties of reverb and how it is different from simple delays:

  1. Disable all other plugins on the effects chain for TechSynth1.
  2. Add the Freeverb (Version 3)effect.
  3. Now open the controls:
    Time for action—exploring Freeverb
  4. Turn the Wet Level knob up about halfway.
  5. Adjust the Room Size knob and listen to the resulting effect by hitting play in the song editor.
  6. Adjust the width to create a wider stereo image, and listen to the effect.
  7. Turn on the Freeze Mode. Listen to the effect.
  8. Turn Freeze Mode off, and adjust the damping knob. Listen to the effect the damping has on the reverb.

What just happened?

Freeverb is a reverb plugin. It is nothing more, and nothing less. It does have an interesting freeze function that takes a snapshot of the reverb as it is happening, and loops it out so that it never decays. This can be really fun with transitions! The knob that we haven't played with yet in...
