Installing DB2
To begin your Sametime installation, you need to prepare your environment for the SSC. This becomes the central administration interface for all the components you are about to install. The SSC uses a DB2 database to store configuration and security information, so the first step is to install a DB2 server. DB2 v9.5 and v9.7 are both supported, and IBM supplies a Sametime-specific limited-use DB2 license as part of the Sametime downloads. You can also use an existing DB2 server environment if you have one in your organization.
To install DB2, you first need to unzip the Sametime-specific DB2 software and, from the top level directory, run the launchpad
script. If this is the first IBM product to be installed on this server, then the installer will initially install IBM Installation Manager.
