Building a FinOps Culture
Without a process for actions, applied goals are never achieved. As we take the journey into the Operate phase, building a collaborative culture across various business boundaries is essential for the continued success of FinOps practice.
The culture of FinOps is collaboration. It is the FinOps team’s responsibility to bring the stakeholders together and prepare a business plan that clearly articulates savings opportunities. Building such a team requires management buy-in. Management must be fully convinced that establishing a Center of Excellence (CoE) for cloud cost management is the way to control and optimize cloud costs in the modern world. Engineers nowadays can create cloud infrastructure with automation tools such as Terraform, without realizing the total cost of ownership of that infrastructure.
