In this chapter, we explored the general uses of a site-to-site VPN, then we established a VPN tunnel using the Cisco IOS router and the Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance. Finally, we completed each section by looking into troubleshooting commands and their output to verify the status of the VPN tunnel on either the router or the firewall.
Having completed this chapter, you should be able to configure a site-to-site VPN on both a Cisco router and an ASA.
In the next chapter, we will look at configuring a remote access VPN for those users who require access to the corporate network but are working as a remote worker or a field engineer.
