Simple Network Management Protocol

Simple Network Management Protocol is commonly referred to as SNMP. This protocol allows you to proactively view and analyze what's going on in your network devices, so that you can fix issues before they become a major problem. If you are in an environment where you can perform proactive maintenance, SNMP is a must-have protocol for you. Using this protocol, you can extract lots of information about the device.

SNMP is normally a component used as a part of an open source to enterprise-level application that helps you keep your network in order. Applications such as Spiceworks, LAN View, and Open Manager use SNMP to know about the devices in the network and gather related information from them.

In the standard monitoring solution, we use the default commands, such as ping, to check whether it is online, you can also use some other commands to check the IP address assigned to that device, and so on. But just by using those commands, you cannot know what's...
