When you think about the collection of databases shown in the preceding diagram, you may think, "Oh, no. You don't need that many databases. I have a relational database, and it can take care of all this for you". Swiss army knives are hardly the best solution for anything other than the most straightforward task. If you want the right tool for the right job that gives you expected performance, productivity, and customer experience, you want a suitable purpose-built database. So no one tool rules the world, and you should have the right tool for the right job to make you spend less money, be more productive, and change the customer experience.
