Setting up the Design Environment
Now that we have begun to familiarize ourselves, and get a bit more comfortable, with the overall layout of Civil 3D, we can start to look at how to set ourselves up for successful design implementation moving forward. A critical step to any BIM design is establishing a foundation to build upon.
With that said, in this chapter, we will review how work begins within Civil 3D; we will look at how to create efficient practices from the start with file templates and settings that carry through as our drawings get more advanced and we generate more files along the way. We will also gain a bit more insight into the dynamic nature of Civil 3D and how so many of the functions within it are linked, leading to a dramatic reduction in rework and a large increase in file intelligence.
In this chapter, we will cover the following topics:
- Exploring the Toolspace within Civil 3D
- Customizing object styles and object label styles
- Expediting project...
