Summary
In this chapter, we saw that all major technology companies are involved in a high-stakes arms race to be the cloud lead dog. Through the history of computing, and as different technologies emerge, the most common outcome is to have one player that dominates the space and all the other competitors are relegated to feed on the scraps. The cloud might be the most important technology to emerge in the history of computing. As customers decide who their preferred cloud provider is, even though they might not realize it now, they are making a decision that will lock them into that cloud provider's ecosystem, and it will be quite difficult to extricate themselves from it and jump to another cloud provider down the road.
