Summary
In this chapter, we learned what natural language is and why we would want to use it. We learned how to use the Q&A visual in Power BI, which uses a language model that translates a question into a query that can be performed on a Power BI dataset to return an answer. The Q&A visual allows users to get insights through natural language questions. The language model used by the Q&A visual semantically matches words from the user's questions to the terms used in the dataset. We can help the model to find the correct answer by preparing the data and by adding synonyms to table and column names to facilitate semantic matching. By also reviewing asked questions and feedback from users, we can improve the model over time.
In the next chapter, we will learn about an Azure suite of services that we can integrate with Power BI to get access to more AI models that can enrich our datasets.
