Cost optimizing with capacity reservations
DynamoDB reserved capacity is a cost-saving option that allows users to commit to a predefined amount of provisioned throughput for a fixed duration, typically one or three years. By reserving capacity upfront, users can benefit from significant cost savings compared to on-demand or public pricing of provisioned capacity modes.
Reserved capacity can be considered primarily as a billing feature, as its main impact is on the billing of an AWS account’s regional provisioned capacity for a given month. It does not affect a provisioned mode table’s performance, limits, or scaling behavior.
