JavaScript and Shiny
With Shiny, JavaScript, and jQuery, you can build pretty much anything you can think of; moreover, Shiny and jQuery will do a lot of the heavy lifting, which means that fairly minimal amounts of code will be required. We are going to take a look at another couple of toy examples.
Note
Please note that these examples do NOT represent best practice in coding. They do not make the best use of CSS, HTML, or jQuery. They are just there to demonstrate the principles and show you how easy it is. In your own applications, you will want to make use of HTML, JavaScript (and/ or jQuery), and CSS in the most appropriate and efficient way.
The connection between JavaScript and Shiny is another reason to recommend RStudio as an IDE because it performs beautiful syntax highlighting on JavaScript straight out of the box (although, clearly, other text editors and IDEs may do this or be easily configured to do so).
