Using a shared repository
In scenarios where the Update Manager server cannot be provided with access to the Internet, you can configure the Update Manager server to access a shared repository containing patch data. For instructions on how to create a shared repository, read the recipe Creating a shared repository.
How to do it...
The following the procedure will help you to configure access to a shared repository:
On the UMDS server, set the shared repository folder as the "export store". Read the recipe Creating a shared repository for instructions.
Once a shared repository has been created, connect to the vCenter Server by using the vSphere Client and navigate to Home | Update Manager and then navigate to the Configuration tab and then to Download Settings. Select the Use a shared repository option to specify a shared repository and click on Validate URL.
Once the URL is validated, click on Apply and then Download to download patches from the shared repository.
