Chapter 19. Packaging and Deployment
In this section, we will look at how to package a set of SOA Suite components for deployment in different environments. We will also look at some of the deployment topologies that may be used at runtime to provide scalability. We will focus primarily on the SOA composite, as this has some of the more complex requirements for the mapping of services.
The need for packaging
When developing software, we generally use a local development environment to create our SOA artifacts. In some cases, this may be entirely on the developer's machine. At other times, the developer will have access to a shared development server. In either case, there will usually be the need to move the artifacts from the development environment into a test environment and eventually into a production environment.
