Introduction

This chapter is designed to reinforce your understanding of calculation scripts and show some of the new functionality available in version 11.1.2.x. Calculation scripts gives Essbase developers an enormous amount of flexibility in conducting complex financial and mathematical functions. Calculation scripts allow us to run multiple passes of the Essbase outline, clear data, perform time-sensitive calculations with substitution variables, and aggregate an Essbase database, to name just a few of the functions. In addition, Essbase comes with over 300 out-of-the-box financial functions available to us via calculation scripts.
