Migrating user state
The User State Migration Tool (USMT) is used to transfer user state and data during OS deployment. You can save user state to the local disk (when performing an in-place upgrade) or to a CM State Migration Point (when migrating a user to a different computer.)
Getting ready
You must have a package for USMT source files. Create a new package and specify the source location for USMT. USMT is contained in the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit for Windows 10 (Windows ADK). The default location for USMT installation files is C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Assessment and Deployment Kit\User State Migration Tool
. Be sure when you create the package, the source folder shows only the x86 and x64 subfolders in the root of your package source.
Tip
