You should use Set Default Value to define the starting value for the field when creating a new record. The following screenshot shows how to use Set Default Value on a field:

The preceding screenshot shows setting a default value for the Klout field. If a user does not enter a value into the Klout field, the business rule will set its value to 0.
We will now look at the actions that change how a field appears on forms, starting with making a field required.
