Getting ready
The template is a page that students can copy. While it is possible for an instructor to build the template from within their own personal account, it is best if templates are created within a group. This is so that access to the template will not be dependent on the account of a particular instructor.
While the type of group is not of particular importance in the development of a template, only Course Groups provide instructors with the ability to lock student Pages after submission so that students cannot edit the Page. For this recipe, we are going to use a Standard Request Membership group. To create your group:
1. Click the Groups tab in Mahara.
2. You should find yourself in the My Groups area; if not; select the tab for My Groups. Click the Create Group option.
3. In field for Group Name, give the group a name that will allow students who will be using the template, to find it easily. For example, Early Childhood Education Candidates.
