Compatibility
ServiceNow itself runs on a ServiceNow server somewhere out there on the internet, and doesn't require much in the way of compatibility. It can be accessed from just about any system with a modern standards-compliant web browser and an active internet connection. However, every browser has subtle nuances and hitches to how it executes client-side code. For this reason, most web applications (such as ServiceNow's Now platform) recommend a particular web browser which renders the application most effectively, and most closely adheres to modern web standards. In the case of ServiceNow (as with most web apps), the recommended web browser is Google Chrome.
While there was a time when Internet Explorer was required for many web applications, there are few good reasons to use it nowadays, unless your web app requires some proprietary and potentially insecure plugin such as ActiveX.
