Monitoring servers while executing tests (using YourKit Profiler)
When it comes to monitoring application and machine resources, there is no shortage of available tools to aid such regard. There are a vast number of commercial tools that do a great job of this. One of such tools is YourKit Profiler.
How to do it…
In this recipe, we show you how you can monitor your server and application resources using the YourKit Profiler.
Install Maven, Git, and JDK 7 as described in the Appendix.
Note
The examples have been tested with JDK 7 only. At the time of writing, they haven't been updated to work with JDK 8.
Get a trial copy of YourKit Java Profiler from http://yourkit.com/ and install it.
Create a directory to keep the sample code. We will refer to this as
CODE_SAMPLES
.Open a terminal or DOS prompt and change the
CODE_SAMPLES
directory.Clone the application using the following command:
git clone https://github.com/jmeter-cookbook/spring-petclinic.git.
