Summary
In this chapter, we learned about the end-to-end Azure Arc enabled server solution managing non-Azure Windows and Linux servers through Azure. We started by setting up a Hyper-V server on Azure and created two VMs. We looked at the steps for onboarding Windows and Linux servers to Azure Arc, as well as the various methods to onboard servers at scale. Then, we looked at several examples that demonstrated the hybrid management capabilities offered by Azure Arc.
While PaaS services are the way to go in the modern cloud computing world, servers are here to stay for some more time at least. Azure Arc will help you prepare for the cloud platform while keeping your data center infrastructure and skills relevant.
In the next chapter, we will learn how Azure Arc can help with modern application hosting solutions such as Kubernetes.
