Sharing Explores
You know already that to share your work in LookML, you need to push changes to your git environment. But what about Explores? Explores are created in LookML, and access to them can be managed in LookML through different access restrictions (using access_filter
parameter) or the Users section in the Admin panel (Admin->Users->Roles). When the Explores are shared, they usually have the same set of columns available (unless you prevent some users from seeing some column or rows in LookML). All the changes that Creators (Explore users) make can be saved as a Look (basically, a visualization unit based on a combination of columns, filters, and customized columns, created by the Explore user/Creator).
In Looker, you can also easily share customized data views with colleagues by sharing the Explore URL. When someone uses that shared URL, they’ll instantly see the Explore you created, complete with all the filters, dimensions, and measures you’ve already...
