Running a master plan and working with planned orders
We’ve been talking about master plans, calculations, coverage groups, and multiple other concepts, but we’ve not seen how Dynamics 365 shows planned orders. So, let´s dive into it.
With the created plans and coverage groups, I will first explain the process of running a master plan. Then, we will review which information the orders will give us and how to work with those planned orders.
Master planning will generate supply orders to address the demand. To understand these concepts, we must state that the demand can come from different sources, with the most known being sales orders. However, forecast demand, transfer orders, sales quotations, and project item requirements contribute to the demand. To address those orders, master planning creates planned purchases, planned productions, planned transfers, and planned Kanban orders.
