Using Select Similar

Hopefully, everyone uses the SELECT SIMILAR command, but does it always work the way we want? How many times have you wanted to select objects using a specific DIMENSION STYLE but wanted to ignore the layer setting? Yes, we can do that!

Most users do not know about this command option because we always use SELECT SIMILAR from the right-click menu, rather than from a command key, so the SETTINGS option is hidden:

1. Open the 12-4_Using BONUS Commands.dwg file.
2. Using the In-Canvas View Controls, restore the Custom Model Views | 1-Select Similar named view.
3. Select one of the exterior dimensions and right-click to access the Select Similar command.

   As expected, only the exterior dimensions are selected because the interior dimensions are on a different layer.

4. Using the Command Line, key in the SELECTSIMILAR command and select the Settings command option.
