Summary
In this chapter, we started with the fundamental aspects to take into consideration when choosing a deployment topology. Then we discussed the fundamentals behind WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment (WAS ND) which is the base foundation platform for the IBM BPM portfolio of products including WPS and WESB.
We discussed clustering, how to do vertical and horizontal clustering, and briefly looked at the databases used by WPS. Then we created the operational architecture for the Sales Fulfillment Application including the logical and physical architecture. Finally we discussed the several deployment patterns available from IBM and how, from them, we choose the Remote Messaging and Remote Support topology pattern (gold topology) as the production topology.
