Creating the background

OK, we’re good to begin our design journey. We’ll create a background with a twist. Since we’re exploring opacity and effects, we’ll overlay two rectangles that will make up our background.

Drawing and coloring the background

The following steps demonstrate the drawing and accurate placement of a rectangle object that will form the basis of our background:

  1. Choose the Rectangle Tool M).
  2. Draw a rectangle from the top-left corner of the page to the bottom right. You can tweak the values of the rectangle on the Properties panel, under the Transform subsection.
    1. Select the top-left reference point from the proxy.
    2. The values for X and Y should be 0 px. This means the object’s top-left point will begin where the page begins.
    3. The value for W (width) is 1920 px and H (height) is 1080 px.
