Creating an Azure SQL Database

Azure offers SQL server databases in three different services. Azure SQL Database is a fully managed Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) database engine. Since the database is a PaaS model, most of the database management tasks (such as backup, backup retention, monitoring, and so on) that are managed by Azure SQL Database consistently operate on the most recent stable release of the SQL Server database engine and are supported by a patched operating system.
