Assigning user roles to existing users

In the previous recipe, we used the User Role Editor plugin to create and assign custom user roles. However, the plugin is not required for working with default user roles. The default features allow us to change the existing user role from the backend user list. This is a useful way of quickly changing permissions without using a plugin.

In this recipe, we are going to use backend user list features to change and assign new user roles to users.

Special preparation is not required for this recipe. The necessary features are available in the WordPress Dashboard.
